A New Beginning

Sep 06, 2021

Effective September 1, ALCECO and First Cooperative Association became a merged entity.  The combination of the two successful cooperatives will bring new opportunities to the employee teams and to the 4,000 active members.

One of our key goals is to build one team and one culture.  With this in mind, the joint teams conducted a team-building event at King’s Pointe the 2nd week of August for all employees.  The day-long event involved a number of interactive activities to give employees the chance to meet others on the team and learn more about the opportunities tied to the new combined company.

The original merger study completed this winter identified a number of synergies between the two cooperatives.  A number of synergies have already been captured this week including capital savings and the ability to arbitrage grain into different markets than before.

As you may have noticed, we continue to operate under the Ag Partners’ and First Cooperative brands and will continue this until a new name is ready to be shared.  The combined board of directors has been tasked to develop and approve the final name.  This is not an easy task when your selection must embody the success of prior generations and yet reflect the opportunities we hope to create for the years to come.  Once a new name is determined, we will ensure it is communicated quickly to employees and members alike.

If you have any questions, please contact your local First Cooperative or Ag Partners’ location.
Thanks for your continued support!
